The Route Green Story

Updated: Aug 5, 2018

Our story began in 2011 when Tim returned from active duty in Afghanistan with multiple battlefield injuries.

His injuries included a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), vestibular and neurological damage, and other physical and invisible wounds. When Teresa met Tim six months later, he was taking over a dozen different medications per day and faced side effects of medications that did not treat many of the root causes. Tim’s goal was to return to service, but in May 2013 Tim was forced to medically retire from the United States Marine Corps.

After Tim retired, Teresa moved to Jacksonville, NC to be by his side. Growing up in a household of holistic and preventative care, Teresa supported and encouraged Tim to explore alternative therapies for relief from his injuries and the side effects of his medication. Within one month of weekly acupuncture treatments, Tim had made considerable progress in his pain management. Through persistent use of therapies such as chiropractic care, herbs, sound therapy, supplements, hypnotherapy, and massage therapies, and diet change, Tim no longer requires pharmaceuticals to treat his symptoms.

Tim’s successful journey to regain his health inspired Teresa to formally study Alternative Medicine and help other wounded veterans heal holistically. She received her bachelor's degree in Alternative Medicine in 2016. Route Green allows Veterans to receive alternative therapies in a retreat setting and provide a network of healthcare professionals who deliver continuous care. We assist Veterans with their reintegration back into society and allow them to take control of their own health
